Bakersfield, CA — October 4, 2025 — Bakersfield College will hosted a community event, Lifting for Cancer Awareness, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.   This event is designed to bring the community together in recognition of Cancer Awareness, the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, and a commitment to health and wellness. The day will feature a lifting competition, an engaging and inspiring showcase of strength and resilience.  In addition to the competition, attendees will enjoy a variety of activities and services including such as Informational booths and food vendors and valuable resources. A car show featuring classic and custom vehicles.  The event is sponsored by Kern Family Health Care and held in collaboration with Team Juanatas-Bowens, Bakersfield College, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, AAU Cares, and Emiliano’s Warriors.

On Saturday, October 12, 2024 Team Juanatas-Bowens hosted Lifting for Cancer Awareness at Bakersfield College in collaboration with American Cancer Society, Kern Family Health Care, AAU Cares, and Bakersfield College. There were vendors and workshops.
